Snow-covered mountain with a ski lift in the distance, St. Anton am Arlberg

St. Anton am Arlberg: Steep Terrain and Off-Piste

The resort for people who ski hard: steep terrain, big off-piste and famous après.

Why St. Anton

St. Anton is where modern alpine skiing took shape. Hannes Schneider opened his ski school here in 1921, and the resort hosted the Alpine World Ski Championships in 2001. It has never lost its appetite for the serious end of the sport. Choose St. Anton if your group skis strongly and wants every day on the mountain to count.

Skiing and freeride

St. Anton sits within Ski Arlberg, with about 300 km of pistes and 85 lifts across the whole area, rising to 2,811 m on the Valluga. The off-piste terrain off Rendl and Galzig rewards skiers who can already look after themselves. A private IFMGA guide reads the snowpack and picks the right slope rather than following other people's tracks. The Flexenbahn connects to Zürs and Lech for days when you want gentler, quieter slopes.

Après and evenings

St. Anton's après-ski is among the liveliest in the Alps, with famous mountain bars on the run home to the village. For a calmer evening, a private chef at your accommodation means dinner arrives when you are ready: no table to book and no walk back in ski boots.

Getting here

St. Anton has its own railway station on the Arlberg line, with direct trains from Innsbruck and Zurich. Innsbruck airport is about 1 hour 15 minutes by car; Zurich is about 2 hours 30 minutes. We arrange private transfers from both.
